Loss of a Friend

Just an hour or so ago my 100 year old friend died. We sat at the same table for about 2 years. She talked and laughed and I yelled and laughed. She was so deaf. I think her life was amazing. She lost her husband at 35 and continued their chicken/egg business to make a living. She also went back to school to become a Licensed Practical Nurse. She said she never had to ask for a job, people were always wanting her to work for them. The marriage didn't produce any children, but she must have had a dozen loving nieces and nephews. There were more friends than I could count at her 100th birthday party. She talked to me about studying the Bible and was really excited when a lesson made her think about something a different way. Besides the Bible, I saw her reading 3" thick books on subjects you wouldn't think an old lady would be interested in. Her mind was wonderful and her sense of humor was the best. At my age, I'm sure she was still working. She came in here at 95. I hope I can follow her example and always be interested in things new and different. I think she cared for me and I really cared for her. I will miss her.
