Blessings are much more fun to count than calories. Maybe if I count blessings instead of putting calories in my mouth, I wouldn't have my current weight problem. I am blessed with a wonderful husband, six fantastic children and 16 wonderful grandchildren....need I go on? My husband and I both have jobs. Although our house isn't much, it keeps out the wind and rain in a storm. I have the freedom to come and go when I please. I love the people I work with. My heart hurts for the misfortunes of my friends and their families, but it also makes more aware of my blessings as I count them one by one........

I am 63 yrs old. I need to lose 50 lbs. I was in weight watchers about 2 yrs ago, but , it was too expensive, I have been a Curves member about 3 yrs. I am 5 ft 9 inches but i weigh 229 which is too much, I have been hypothyroid for about 22 yrs, and have taken synthroid all that time, I had a large lump or cyst removed. I find it very hard to lose weight. I would like ladies to keep me on track, and keep me going. I am going to curves at 230 pm today, and am doing some cleaning, and moving furniture, that will give me a boost to. Pls lets keep on losing thanks DOT

Counting blessings, that's something I need to do instead of "striving sooooooo much" TO LOSE WEIGHT, TO PAY MY BILLS, TO FIND A JOB AFTER BEING FIRED AFTER 21 YEARS. I have a good forgetter!!! I lean to food for everything and I have lost myself.....I'm 57 years old, I have a husband with whom we fight all the time...I have 4 grandchildren...But my emotions are a mess, and there are no jobs to be found. Spark ladies pray I gain eating wisdom, as well as a job. Thanks for being there....I excercised today! I do feel a little better, even if it was only 12 minutes. tadah.

I've just been thinking the same thing today! I've been a bit depressed lately because my knee surgery recovery is a bit slow -- I should be extremely grateful that I could have the surgery and not be wheelchair bound at 56! It seems I always look at what I can't do or have instead of what I *can* do or what I already have ;-)

As you say, food / clothing / shelter not a problem, a decent job, med insurance, and most of all, a loving husband. Counting blessings is going on my Other Goals right now!

    Thanks for the inspiration,

Your blog is inspiring. I lost my husband at age 43 and I spiraled downward from there. My weight is hideous and it is because I buried myself with my husband . I put on the pounds to put up a barrier and comfort myself with food. I have health issues now as well. I have decided however that 2010 will be the beginning of a new decade for me in a personal manner. I realized my blessings on Christmas Eve when I had 7 grand kids all sitting on or near me for a photo. They each came to me that evening and shared with me the delight they take in life, the simple joys they bring and I witnessed how they allow nothing to get in the way. of living life with wide eyes and eagerness.I have sucessful and healthy children whom all have been my ultimate joys in life. Thanks for your blog..I am crying and cannot type now...God Bless You and Thanks... emoticon

    Hi Diana,

I'm new to Sparks and ran across your blog entry. I totally agree with you in regard to blessings. I have a wonderful husband and 4 children, 3 children in law, and 3 grandchildren with 2 on the way. My husband and I are employed and own our own house. I find myself sometimes complaining about my job and then I realize that I HAVE ONE! Thank you God!
I find myself complaining about my weight and you know what? I realize that I'm the only one that can help myself - Thanks Spark People!
