If at first you don't succeed......

Sunday, July 05, 2009

I think it is true about every journey. You start and you are excited and motivated and about 2-3 weeks into it you either lose interest or you are not making quick enough progress so you give up or slack off. Welcome to my life. I have been doing this ever since I was in High School. I love my life. I have been depressed and it is not fun and I refuse to go back there. I do however get very discouraged when I fail. I am an all or nothing kind of person and it is very difficult, when I miss a day, to get back on track. I often just say "oh well I failed" and quit. I have learned something just recently from a friend that I have heard a thousand times but never really believed or practiced. If at first you don't succeed, try, try, try, try, try , try again. Never Give Up! It is so much easier to type this than to actually live it. So instead of focusing on a week or month at a time how about today?????? Tomorrow is new and fresh. Nothing has happened yet. You can do anything tomorrow!!! So if you mess up today there is always tomorrow. Just get up and start again. You are not a failure until you give up. I am so excited. I am writing this so I can look back and remind myself to keep getting up and starting again. A bad meal? Missed exercise? Ate an entire Pie for a bet? LOL It is ok just start again and don't give up or get discouraged.

Amen! I tell newbies all the time...it isn't about "messing" up...it is how you handle it that makes all the difference in the world! Our new healthy lifestyle journey is just that...a journey! It consists of ups and downs, trials and triumphs, a cruve ball once in awhile, and freedom to choose! What a journey we can have and enjoyment that comes from it!

AMEN!!!! ALL VERY WELL SAID!!!! Thank you for sharing your heart... many of us are 'all or nothing' people... which is what I have been most of my life. And for some reason I can get one part of life in order, and another part of my life falls apart! I am 43, and still learning so much... I guess life would be boring if we had it all together!!! LOL... I am thankful for everyone on SparkPeople that help encourage each other... it really has helped me stay consistantly motivated at least in this one area!!
