Let's go CAMPING!!!

Friday, June 19, 2009

Wednesday my friend Laurie and I took our dogs camping. It was a cloudy day, we drove to the campsite and found a nice place to pitch our tent....and found we were one pole short! I drove back home (it was only a 40 minute drive) to look for the pole while Laurie stayed with the dogs and set about inflating our air mattresses. I got home (after making 3 wrong turns!), searched all over--no pole, so I took pieces off a "portable" clothes rack. On the way back to the site, it had started to rain. I got to the site and Laurie's sitting there with flat air mattresses--the inflating tool went dead! We managed to rig up the clothes rack pole so it was doable (yay, us!), by then our "neighbors" showed up to pitch their tent next door. LOUD OBNOXIOUS DRUNK neighbors. Laurie and I loaded up the pups and went for a pizza, then to a store for something for breakfast the next morning. When we came back to the Jeep there was Shea in the front seat eating our pizza! I couldn't stop laughing--nothing was going right at all! It was raining pretty good by then, so instead of taking the dogs to the park to swim, we went back to our campsite. Our neighbors were blaring horrible music, so we went into the tent to play our music and the cd player was broken. Shea got into the popcorn. Then Shea escaped the tent, along with Lily, and while Laurie and I were trying to get hold of them, here comes Tugboat bounding out of the tent (and he was in a CRATE! NO idea how that little bugger got out!), so we had 3 dogs we were trying to catch! We finally got hold of them all, got in the tent and went to sleep. When I woke up the next morning, the contents of my duffle bag were all over--Shea again!! It was still raining pretty hard, so Laurie and I decided to just come home--we didn't even bother to change out of our "jammies" because we would have gotten soaked anyway. We tossed the dogs in the Jeep and then just piled stuff in so we could get out of there, get home, get food, and get showers. And we had one of the best times ever, despite everything! But NEXT time we decide to take the dogs camping with us, we'll make sure it's sunny weather!!! emoticon

Hi, guess I was meant to find this blog for a good laugh to start my day. Oh my, what an adventure. Nothing like a dog to take you on adventures you never would have expected. We have three goldens and camp too. We did, however, buy a hard shell camper that has fold out beds and enough room for all three dogs. They are part of the family and I feel the same as you, they are my best friends along with my husband. Your girl is beautiful and I love her color. My old guy (11) is red and I have always loved the darker goldens. My middle guy is 6.5 and he is more brown and my little guy (3) is golden brown. Wish you lived closer, would invite you over for a play session. My boys would love to meet your beauty.
