More Than Just Calories

So a couple weeks ago I was home sick for a couple days. I'm not sure I can even call it sick as much as totally exhausted and just couldn't drag myself out of bed and to work for two days. This is what prompted the whole doctor drama that's currently going on.

Unfortunately, it also started something else happening that I'm just realizing. Two days of no motivation meant eating what I found in the house. I wasn't cooking. I was even justifying having tastycakes and such because they were there, I almost never eat them, and they didn't require any work to "make". Well, a couple days of this wouldn't have been bad, but I'm realizing I have been slipping some not so healthy choices in for the last couple weeks. Not a lot of them, but one or two "treats" a day. I'm not going over my calories, but I'm not getting the nutrition in either.

In addition I've also been bad about fiber. Last week I averaged 12 grams a day instead of the 25 minimum they recommend, so I've been working on that. I grabbed some fiber one cereal last week (and discovered I prefer it dry) and have made that a daily snack. And surprise! I'm not constantly feeling nibbly. I actually just finished up my morning snack and am not sure if I'll even eat my afternoon one.

So, time to pay more attention to WHAT I'm eating and not just the calorie count!

    It's so easy to fall off your plan. Old habits die hard and seem to always be hanging out in the background just waiting for us to look the other way. But, just writing this down makes you aware. That is a major step to getting back on track. Good for you for taking that step.

    I am going to try those fibe bars as well, a friend at works eat them daily and well it won't hurt and it would be a good healthy snack as well.

    Great job on getting back on track! It happens to us all and I know for me; when I dont feel well I only want to eat that "comfort food" which is normally not on my list!
