What am I so scared of?
I have set a goal to run a 5k this year and found several in my area. But I just never felt ready.
What if I come in last?
What if I can't finish?
I'll look like a fool! So I've put it off and put it off.

Until now. Last month a very good friend offered to run this 5k with me. She never runs a 5k - she is a marathoner! But still I put it off. You have to maintain a 15 min pace or they pick you up. I can't do that.

You have time to train she said. You can do this she said. What are you afraid of another friend said. But I put it off.

She called and said have you signed up yet? I'll still run it with you. But still I put it off.

Tonight I went for a run - a short one just 2.11 miles. I did 1/1 intervals and finished in 30 minutes. And I thought I can do this!

So I signed up 10 minutes ago to run a 5k at Disneyland in September!

Way to Sign up for your first 5K, Eve!!!! emoticon
(OK, I could have used the computer emoticon but it wouldn't have had the same FLAIR - OOOMPF - PIZAZZ!!!)
The recounting of Tammy and Kate's Disney World 5K sounded like SO much fun, running through the park and everything. I am assuming that your run will be through Disneyland's park too, is that right? All the sights and sounds as you run will be so exciting. And running with a friend, that sounds so awesome! AND, you have all summer to train - you GO, Eve!!

Good for you Eve! Sorry I missed this blog. I did the same thing with the two races I signed up for. I kept thinking 'what if something comes up and I can't do it?" What if....what if....what if.....

We're both going to do just fine...and you have lots of time to prepare...and an excellent guide!

Proud of you for taking that final step.
