Starting June off on the right foot!

About a month ago I made some goals for the summer to keep me on track, so I figured I should check back in on my progress! My first goal was to lose 2 pounds by Memorial Day, which I met with flying colors, actually a pound less and a few days early. That earned me a massage...which reminds me that I need to make an appointment!

Then came Memorial Day, where I spent the long weekend celebrating my brother's graduation...and found two pounds in the process. I did pretty well last week, but then my best friend was in town last weekend, which also involved a few of my favorite Nashville eateries. Now, these two things wouldn't have been so bad on their own except that I wasn't exercising. I knew the risk I was taking, and I expect another pound or two this week. It baffles me how I could gain 2 pounds over 3 days...maybe it's just my body not appreciating the unhealthy fare I eat. I know that I didn't consume THAT many extra calories!

But, I am not to be thrown off course that easily! Setbacks, yes, but I was back in the gym this morning for a nice hour-long cardio session, and I did well with my nutrition plan today despite going out for lunch and finishing up some leftovers from the weekend. I'm feeling good so far this week and feel that it's enough that I'm going to make good food choices even when eating out this week. I've had my two weekends of fun...it's time to take hold of the reins again and get this back under control!

After weigh-in on Wednesday I may re-evaluate my 4th of July goal if it feels unrealistic. Originally it was a 4-pound loss in 6 weeks. As of last week it would have been a 5-pound loss in 5 weeks. A pound a week is about as far as I want to take it, so I'm pretty sure I'll need to adjust the goal up a pound or two. But I think that's ok. I think you have to be flexible or else this whole thing just won't work. Trial and error!

So, despite the setbacks, I'm feeling pretty good and am not discouraged. I knew what I was doing, I'll take the consequences, and I'll just hop right back on that wagon as usual!

Now off to bed...that alarm always calls me to the gym earlier than I wish!
