Upset and Mad

Since I’ve found SparkPeople I am been encouraged and motivated. I strive to meet my daily goals and overcome daily challenges as well; so far it has been a wonderful journey. However, my body is upset and mad because it has been taken out of its normal routine. It think it is rebelling because instead of lagging around; sitting on the couch and watching TV or laying around snacking on chips and drinking many Pepsi (I was a Pespiholic) it has been forced to change. Let me tell you my friends my body is upset and mad with me.

Today is my weigh in day and I have not lost any weight at all; let me tell you that is discouraging. So I took a moment to think, I didn’t gain any weight so I’ll use that as a positive. I will continue to make healthy eating choices and I will continue to exercise and drink plenty of water. I know I have to press forward regardless of my body being upset and mad; because I am in control and I will meet my goals. I’ve had this talk with my body and told it I was working out twice today so it might as well prepare itself because it’s happening; like it or not!

    I so know how frustrating plateaus can be. I wrote a blog about detours. Which i call plateaus. I am still going toward my goal, it just will take me a little side ways to get me there.

    You are right our bodies do get mad at us. However in the end they end up thanking us. Don't get too discouraged...even though I know it is easier said then done. I am glad you were able to see the positives in it....you didn't gain any and you are still working hard! You have come so far and have accomplished so much. My body does the same thing...it is stubborn....just like me. So we go head to head a lot and in the end in the past it has won. Not this time though...this time I am going to win....AND SO ARE YOU! I laughed when you said you had a talk with your body....I have done the same thing...you worded it perfectly. Keep up the hard work and it will pay off. Don't sweat the small stuff!

    Great blog, you write with such energy!!! Just imagine when your body starts taking note of the energy that you have been & will put into your spark healthy lifestyle. Hang in there ---I know in the beginning I went thru the same thing, took me about 1 month to start seeing any visible change on the scales. The weight will start coming off, just keep plugging along! emoticon

    I'm sicker than a dog at the moment, but I MADE myself go for a walk with my Mom tonight! It was good knowing that I made it...even though I felt icky the whole time and even though I still felt icky when I got home...but it was the fact that I MADE myself do it!!!
    And I have to tell you...I have weeks and even MONTHS when my scale doesn't move...it can be VERY distressing...but HANG IN THERE!!! Eventually it really DOES move!!! And even in the RIGHT direction!!!
    k...the Benedryl is kicking in and I feel like I'm going to pass out right here on the couch! heehee

    Julynn, you are right your body is acting a bit peevish....after all, 3 weeks ago you started asking it to change and change it did...looks like even with today's unchanged scale, you have lost 7 lbs if I am looking at this right, that's a little over 2 lbs a week averaged out...a recommended weight loss....yeah, I've been there too, looking at the scale thinking hey I wanted to lose more weight again this week...but our bodies have a way of doing things their own way.

    Well, you have determination to not let this get you down...Good for you. You're looking on the positive of not gaining weight...good for you again. You're using this to motivate you to keep at it and take control...super.

    I also want to remind you to be aware of your nutrition tracker and be sure to get enough food so you body doesn't really rebel and think you're starving it...also I am discovering myself that I need to give it a rest once and a while....I'm not sure if I entirely understand it, but if I give myself a lighter day as far as my workout goes my weight seems to respond...I guess it's another instance of the body trying to tell us who's boss! LOL

    Keep up the good work....you are really doing great...there's nothin shabby about a 7 lb loss. You go girl!

    You are right - you can't let one "bad" week take away from all the good you have done!

    And keep in mind - if you are not eating enough calories for the amount of working out you are doing each day, your body will go into starvation mode and quit losing weight. Seriously. So make sure you see what the SP tracker says after you log in your food for the day. At the bottom of the chart it will let you know if you need to increase your calories!

    Don't forget - only a week ago, you were telling me to hang in there, take one day at a time when the scale didn't move for a week. You have come so far - don't give up. It took two weeks for the scale to move for me. Your patience will pay off.

    Julynn - I really like reading your blogs. I'm hoping your determination is contagious! Two workouts today - woohoo! Don't forget to give your body a rest day once in awhile, so it can regroup.

    Anyhow, I think I'd better give mine a talking to, get it up from the desk and outside walking before the day goes any further. I've been chained to the desk all day studying and it's time to MOVE!

    You knew with the 5 lb lost last week that this week might be rough. And so it is...but I think you have a great attitude and will be whipping that body into shape in no time whether it likes it or not. LOL
