I beat my Nemesis!

Saturday, May 30, 2009

Today I finally managed to run up that hill that I have been trying to run up for the past few months. I was going to include a photo but it really doesn't do the hill justice and it looks like a slight incline. So just imagine something really steep that even cars have trouble getting up it.

I had been close the last couple of times. If I could have gone just a little further it wouldn't have been as steep and could have made it to the end, but I just couldn't seem to get past that point. Today I just didn't care the my legs were dying and my lungs were going to explode, I just kept going and finally made it to the top. I was so excited and luckily there was a girl walking up another hill (my next nemesis) to the point I was at so I was able to share my news.

My legs were like jelly and I couldn't go anywhere so I just had to stand there a while and eventually continued on with my run but had to walk in parts because the hill (the one the other girl was walking up) was so steep. And then I ran all the way up the hill on the other side which I had done before but never after tackling the first hill. I had to walk in parts on the way back home because I was struggling by that stage but I am still very proud of myself for having got up that hill.

Well done! There's a steep hill near me that I haven't had the guts to tackle at a run, yet.... You're inspiring me to give it a try!

Congratulations! We all have that nemesis that we one day will conquer and YOU DID IT! Mine is to go for an actual run instead of a walk.

Pat yourself on the back and give yourself a hug...for me.
