Spreading the Spark

I live in a small town where I know lots of people. Almost three weeks ago I started sharing my interest in SparkPeople with others. It started in my doctor's office. The women that worked in the front office wanted to know how I had lost weight. I answered them to the best of my ability. I gave the web address to all that wanted it. They seemed very interested.
Today I was in a clothing store and the salesclerk and I started a conversation. Somehow, we got on the weight issue. I asked if she had a computer, she told me she did. I told her the basic facts about SparkPeople and she wanted the web address. She added that her Mom had just bought a laptop but didn't look at anything but the news because of her lack of experience. She too has a weight problem. I advised the clerk that if she would go to SparkPeople that she would do herself a big favor. I advised her also that she could look forward to spending hours on the site because there are so many interesting things to do. The clerk was very happy to be able to take the web address to her Mom to help her to enjoy a site of interest. I will follow up on this one.
I have always been in the public eye and I am not bashful at all. From now on if I can introduce others to SparkPeople, I will. For me it is most interesting, If I had the time to devote to it, I would be on here night and day. I love all the articles. I save most of them or print them. I have always enjoyed reading health articles. Of course, I am interested for myself, in learning from all of the Team Leaders, Members and all the others on this site. I especially want to thank SPARKGUY who made this site possible and to all the others who pitched in to help him make this site the BEST ON THE WEB.
I have met so many dear friends on Spark, it is hard to believe we've not known each other for years. I actually feel very close to lots of them. I think we have really great people on SparkPeople. They are always very kind and courteous and will help anytime they are asked.
Thanks to all of you who have helped to make me a better & healthier person.
I have come a long way. I had back surgery 3 years ago and was very limited as to what kinds of exercise that I was able to do other than stretching & walking. I started out slowly when I joined SP and now I am able to do high impact aerobics. It has made my back stronger and I have less pain. I don't always feel up to aerobics but when I don't, I do strength training with the band and weights or lots of various stretching exercises. I have lost many inches and ten pounds. I have a ways to go, but I will enjoy every day of it. My happy work is not finished.
Finally, I hope that all that reads this Blog who needs encouagement, will feel encouraged and will become more interested in reaching the goal that they have set for themselves. One of the most helpful motivators for me is checking in on my Teams Forum and becoming involved in reading Team Leaders motivation or inspirational thoughts for the day, then comment on them and read what Members write. I have learned so much about a multitude of different subjects that will help me to continue on my journey to a healthier person.
