I Still Know How to Ride a Bike????

Tuesday, May 26, 2009

I haven't ridden a bike in over 10 years, but I now have been bit by the riding bug. It started when I started my C25K training and I noticed all the bike riders on the Illinois Prairie Path that I run on. They go zipping by and I thought it would be great to feel the wind whipping through my hair, under my bike helmet. When my son came home from college for the summer I persuaded him to bring his bike. This way, if I decided it wasn't for me I wouldn't have wasted much money. I finally took it out today. The saying about never forgetting how to ride a bike is true. It took a couple of minutes to get used to, but, I was zipping along in no time. My running has helped strengthen my legs and lungs. I'm not going to lie and say that my legs didn't burn, because on those inclines, THEY DID. But I rode an hour without having to stop and rest. Again, I amaze myself! I can't wait to see if the ride has any effect on my running tomorrow. My legs are feeling a little rubbery!

Initial cost of buying a bike for my son..... $500.00
New bike helmet..... $49.99
Sleek biker shorts..... $39.95
Not having your butt make your bike seat disappear........PRICELESS!!!

Sounds like a great day. I laughed at the priceless part even though my butt would hide the seat. Have a great day and enjoy the bike rides. Pam

I love riding a bike, and really miss it. I have lost enough of my vision I can't ride my bike anymore. I used to ride 4 miles every day. It is great exercise and is excellent if you have knee problems. Enjoy!
