Preparing for the Weekend

Friday, May 22, 2009

I have had a full week and it has been great with the SparkPeople Family. I am amazed at the energy I’ve had throughout my workouts and I can tell the difference already. To be active daily certainly has it rewards for the body. I must admit I am tired but I feel good. I only hope I can remain motivated throughout the weekend and not fall off the wagon.

I am in a fishing club and tomorrow morning I will be at the beach hopefully pulling in some nice size, Spots, Croakers, Blues and Mullets. I’m not sure how I’m going to work this in my diet since I love fried fish and I’ve not had any for some time now. I must figure a way to enjoy this without getting off track and undoing my small progress. Wish me luck!
This morning I was up moving early with my regular 20 minute strength training, 50 minute aerobics and I increase my walk time from 30 minutes to 45 minutes this morning. Normally on they walk I’m out of gas, but I felt good and I wanted to get the most out of the workout!
I have not yet started on my virtual adventure to Texas, I’m trying to work out the kinks with that, but I will start on that soon, I’ll update you on that later.

So as we prepare for the weekend I say enjoy yourself and have some fun, but let’s not forget our mission. Our goals should always be somewhere in our minds to keep us on track so we continue to make good choices.

    Hi Julynn:

I loved your final paragraph emoticon
Yes, let's not forget our mission.
I will be happier when I can return to working out in about a week - I hope (just waiting for doctor's permission after minor surgery). When I can begin working out, I will feel like I am giving 100% to the mission.

Have a wonderful weekend ~ enjoy & have fun! emoticon

I agree with Heidiodie on not depriving yourself. Enjoy your fried fish but just be concious of how much you are eating. Plus since you know you are going to eat it...just plan your other meals accordingly. Most of all don't torture yourself about it...ENJOY IT.
Sundays are always hard...I am dreading it this Sunday....we go to my parents and my mom has this way of talking me into eating more then I want and she knows I love sweets. She owns a general store. Anyway...I just have to be strong. Have a great weekend and enjoy your day at the beach fishing.

PS...I love to fish. My husband and I are going to start this summer hopefully. As a kid I used to go all the time with my family.

I have to tell you...I just LOVE your name!! I forgot to mention that before...
I am a BIG believer in not depriving yourself!!!! I think the key is to find out exactly how many calories it would be to have a serving of your fried fish and how big a serving is...then plan the beginning of your day accordingly...if you plan on having your fried fish for dinner, eat a low calorie breakfast, lunch and snacks and that way you'll have plenty of calories banked up for your dinner!! It's a good idea to plan the side dishes too...that way you don't have to worry about going over your limit...and I try to keep in mind that it's okay to eat at the upper end of my calorie range from time to time and not feel guilty about it either!!! So if your fried fish is 300 calories for a 6 oz. serving (I'm just throwing numbers out there, I have no idea what it will actually be...heehee), then plan the rest of your day around it...
I would bring healthy snacks for while you're fishing so if you get hungry, you can eat without feeling SUPER hungry at dinner time too...
I just am a real believer in the idea that this is a lifestyle change, not a diet...and if you constantly deprive yourself of things you absolutely love, it can be very difficult to keep at it...and as long as you know ahead of time what you can always work it into your day with the right amount of planning!
I hope you have a GREAT time this weekend! Let me know how it goes!

Fish is great for you, I eat at least 3 times a week. Just grill it up instead of frying it and it's a wonderful alternative to the typical chicken, turkey, beef proteins.

Good luck this can do it!
