I just had an almost perfect weekend. The only thing that would've made it better was if I was one of the ticket holders that just won the lottery. True story, I was my friend and her husband, who is a Sheriff's deputy, when he got the call that two deputies from his department won $75 million on a ticket from the 7-Eleven where he used to buy a Lotto ticket every day but doesn't anymore because he's given up Rock Star. His eyes kind of glazed over. I figure that he was thinking that he would rather be all hopped up on Rock Star and rich instead of the even keeled middle class guy he's become since he kicked the habit. We were actually at a casino so there was plenty of opportunity to try again...he went back to work the next day.
So, Point Break Live on Friday. If you live in the S.F. Bay or L.A. area go see it. Right now. Seriously. Do it. Awesome show, hilarity is the rule of the evening. I got fake blood on my jeans and shoes and it was totally worth it. I've been twice and I want to go again. Excuse me while I buy tickets. We had a group of about ten people and I was stuck on the end next to someone I don't know. But, miracle of miracles...the guy was actually pretty cool. He struck up a conversation with us and agreed that the crowd didn't choose the best audience member to play Johnny Utah. Yes, each night a different member of the audience is chosen to play Keanu Reeves memorable character Johnny Utah. It's usually best if he's awkward and nervous.
Saturday really rocked the party. I FINALLY got the chance to get on my new scale. I've been on Spark People for a week and I lost 3 pounds!!!!! It's not much but Rome wasn't built in a day and neither will my super cute new bod.
Got a really good cut and color for only $56 including tip! I have curly hair. It's like kryptonite for stylists. I decided to take a chance because of our wonderful economy and instead of spending $175 on a cut and color, I went to the Paul Mitchell school and got a student to do it on the cheap. If you live in any metropolitan city that has a corporate school (Paul Mitchell, Aveda, Vidal Sassoon) give it a try. Haircuts at this school are only 8 dollars! It's a great savings if you're willing to take a chance and give up a bit more time. It can take up to two hours because the cut needs to be checked by the teachers. Luckily my cut and color took about two and a half.
Oh, but Saturday night...that was the piece de resistance. We went to see MC Hammer. Yeah, I said it, MC Hammer. Don't hate, appreciate! Did I mention that we got on stage and danced with him? Um yeah, because we did. And it was AWESOME. He said that he needed some ladies to get up on stage and help him out so we booked it up to the front. By the time everyone was up there, the whole stage was full of people and it was more like a party than a show. I'm fine with the fact that my cardio on Saturday was done to Please Hammer, Don't Hurt 'Em; Too Legit to Quit, You Can't Touch this and a ton of other '80s throwbacks.
Sunday was my mellow day. I went with a good friend for breakfast and then a photography field trip. We drove through West Marin. Every intersection brought us to the split second decision of which way to turn. We got some good shots and the ride was definitely helped by the fact that we were in a sports car. I topped off the day with Hugh Jackman's bare chest. No, he's not my secret lover. I saw the new X-Men movie which was actually pretty good, even if you're not heavy into comic books.
Now, if I could just get Wolverine to show up at my office.
