The 30-30-30 Rule. Help Your Eyes!
Wednesday, April 29, 2009
I was chatting with a friend of mine the other day about general healthy living and he mentioned the 30-30-30 Rule. If you haven't heard of this, it is really easy and helpful to remember! Every 30 minutes, you should spend 30 seconds staring at something at least 30 feet away. It helps reduce eye strain and can help prevent headaches.
I have to admit that I usually take my eyes for granted. I wear my contacts over 16 hours everyday and I wear them weeks longer than I should. I work on computers over 70 hours every week and 40 for those hours are spent sitting at a desk with the monitor a foot and half away. I make sure to stretch out my back, neck, and shoulders at least twice a day, but I have never once thought about my giving my eyes a much needed break!
I have been doing this today and it has made a difference already! Usually by lunchtime I have a slight headache starting, but so far I am well into the afternoon and headache free. I just thought I would share this tip with everybody!
