I am going Batty, does anyone have any suggestions!!!

Wednesday, April 29, 2009

I do not know what is up, but bats have found a place in our eaves. They are keeping me awake at night. I am not sure how my husband sleeps through it. It sounds like scratching on a chalk board to me. And at 4;45 in the morning I could scream because that is when they are making the most noise.
Our house is not that old and it is vinyl sided. I know they kill bugs, half full glass attitudes. Is there a trick or should i just invest in some earplugs?
Thanks in advance.
Jeanne

Both previous comments very good...in addition, moth balls....not crystals, will drive bats out of an attic or other space...don't know if you can get them into your eaves but I know this works....once they're out you need to track down and seal the cracks....bats can get into the tiniest of hairline openings. Good luck....like this is what you need to be dealing with now.

Now I'm about to say sounds crazy... But I heard there's these spider things you can plug into your outlets that send out electronic pulses that scare them off - I bet that there HAVE to be ones for bats because they are even more sensitive that way. Someone told me to check at Home Depot. You could google it first so that I don't make you ask someone a "crazy bat lady" question. We were having problems with GIANT SPIDERS at work - so I was the "crazy spider lady" for a minute or two last year.

Try calling Animal Control and see what they recommend. We actually get sparrows in our crawlspace - they found a little hole in a ventilation screen up under the eaves. Unfortunately it is 3 stories up, and we don't ahve a ladder that high. And hanging upside down from the roof is not an option. I feel your pain, and wish you luck!
