Last week I had the good luck to step on my scale and see a three-pound loss after several weeks of losing a pound a week. I was thrilled! I am at 200 pounds for the first time in 5 years. The interesting thing was that I lost this weight on a week where I felt I had not put in the work-- I was exercising, but it was slower and less intense. Lots of walking, etc. I think my body may have just needed a change.
In looking at my goals, I'm doing pretty well. I'm aiming for a weight loss of 5 lbs per month. So far, so good. I lost more the first couple of months on SP and then it slowed down, but still, average-wise, that's where I'm at. So that's good.
I feel better. I've noticed my diet slipping a bit this last week as we've been very busy and there just hasn't been time to drive 30 minutes to the grocery store to buy fresh vegetables and fruits. I'm doing what I can-- taking vitamins, limiting sweets and fatty foods if possible, trying not to overdo it on carbs, and drinking lots of water.
I've been rewarding myself by making soap. I LOVE making soap by hand. I hope to be able to sell some handmade soaps at the Farmers Market this summer and I'm working on getting a website going-- maybe it will be done in the next year! My family and friends haven't had to buy a bar of soap or lotion or body wash in years! I make my soap the old-fashioned way--- from lye and water and oils. You would not believe how wonderful good handmade soap makes your skin feel in comparison to the detergent bars available in the store... HUGE difference. My acne problem is a thing of the past, and my husband is no longer Mr. Itchy Scratchy.
It's spring and I'm doing some horseback riding and hiking, too. Only a few more weeks and school is out for the year, meaning my husband and I will have a couple of months to get things done around the house, put in a new fence for the dog yard, do some upkeep on our 100-year-old house, get our garden planted and fenced, and spend time with family and friends. I enjoy being a teacher with a summer vacation!
I'm at a pretty good place right now. I'm still nowhere near my goal weight, but I am starting to see a difference. I've lost over 20 pounds, which is a good feeling. My clothes still fit, but I've had to take my belt up a few notches. One of these days i will have to buy new jeans, though. I'm cooking healthier meals out of habit, now; incorporating more vegetables and leaner meats. I don't think I've purchased or prepared ground beef since January. There's some in the freezer that I think I will give to the dogs-- we've been eating ground turkey breast, some pork, lots of chicken and fish, and if we have red meat; it's a sirloin. Might as well enjoy it!
