Emotional Eating

Assignment: Emotional Eating is a problem that usually has deep roots. Anyone who falls victim to it can attest to that. Think about why you are eating, and situations in which you find yourself slipping. Is there a life issue (stress, failure, gloominess, a traumatic experience) that may be at the root of the problem? The life issue may not have immediately obvious weight loss repercussions. It may seem to just be a life issue that you’re currently dealing with. But writing about the issue may show you the connection. It will allow you understand how it makes you feel, what you can do about it and how it affects other areas of your life. Again, write in your blog often or whenever you think about this issue (you can choose to make the entry pubic or private). This is the first step to understanding how this life issue may affect your eating and exercise habits, or may be sabotaging your motivation.

The only thing I can think of right now that would cause "emotional" eating for me is boredom. I have worked very hard to conquer this issue with doing strength training exercises while bored, or grabbing a "good" snack like popcorn - if I'm still bored after all my exercises. I'm hoping with the weather change that this issue will resolve itself with outdoor activity.

Hey Leslie Emotional eating is something that's not easy to get over. Just today, I ate emotionally because I used an injury as an excuse to eat what ever. A few hours later, I wish I had more control over what I had put in my mouth. What can you do? Just try and do better tomorrow because we are human and bound to slip up once in a while.

    Best Wishes!

I understand emotional eating. For me it started as a child who was sexually abused. Then in adulthood this was my drug of choice to cope with other issues. Now I am learning the to love me and forget the past and find other ways to deal with stress. Thanks for sharing and helping me tap into getting to know me.
