IN or OUT

Wednesday, April 15, 2009

"There are only two options regarding commitment. You're either IN or you're OUT. There's no such thing as life in-between."
- Pat Riley, basketball coach

This was the SparkPeople quote of the day that I received by email. Seems very close to scripture:

* "No one can serve two masters. For either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will hold to one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and mammon." Matt. 6:24 NASB

* "I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot... So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of My mouth." Rev. 3:16 NASB

* "And if it is disagreeable in your sight to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves today whom you will serve: whether the gods which your fathers served which were beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you are living; but as for me and my house. we will serve the Lord." Joshua 24:15 NASB

I asked myself this morning, "As a Christian...who are you serving?" Well, of course I answered Christ!!! But...almost as quickly as that came out of my mouth, my brain flashed images of pizza, kids, computer, friends, coffee...

Ouch!

I want to know the power of Christ. I want to be sold-out for Him. I don't want the things of this earth to crowd in and steal my devotion.

I choose today, again, to follow Him Who is Life.

I am IN.

Today's post reminds me of the song Kathy Tricolli (sp?) sings: I will Choose Christ. It is a very powerful song. Your blog today makes me want to scream YIKES! How many times, have and will I be tugged to follow in both directions, and go the wrong way? Your blog this morning reiterated what I already know. Keep your eyes focused straight ahead on the goal, Christ who is the ultimate goal. Most likely the first time we get to meet will be in heaven, I can say, you are a good sister in Christ who I trust to tell it like it is. Your words lovingly challenge us to grow and be "sold out to Christ" Thanks!
