Some of you may know that every year I plant a huge (relatively) vegetable garden. Last year I had planned to expand the garden adding another 300 sq ft to it but I broke my ankle instead and ended up just doing some regular planting. I got in almost everything that I had wanted to but it was all too crowded. Of course, it didn't help any when my neighbor, Olga, walks over with 30 tomato seedlings and 30 pepper seedlings (the long skinny sweet peppers, not bell peppers.)
So this year the garden bug bit me HARD! I have my week of vacation planned on 5/1 - 5/10 to have the dirt delivered and to get that new section created.
Here is my garden as it looked 2 years ago -
and also
Part of the garden bug is that I started a bunch of seeds. The planters have taken over my kitchen table. I get to plant in one more month! The progress has been amazing - and it's so fun to see the progress literally from hour to hour! I planted these exactly 13 days ago on a Monday night after work. I am happy to report that EVERYTHING has sprouted!
There are lemon cucumbers, 3 kinds of tomatoes, 2 kinds of peppers, hollyhocks, zinnias, poppies and snapdragons. Yes, the flowers are all my daughter's doing.

Here we are today! This is all amazing!
These are the lemon cucumbers
The tomatoes are going crazy
If you look closely enough you will see little pepper seedlings starting to pop up. I was very worried that it just isn't warm enough where I have these for these to sprout but they are!
I'll keep everyone updated on the progress but I don't think I'll need any of these plants from the nursery.
Oh Yeah! Stay tuned for next week for an update on the progress of the actual veggie garden. We are going to fire up the new tiller and get lettuce, peas, spinach, beets, carrots, onions and perhaps potatoes (if I can find them) planted. The paper says April 20th for planting these but Saturday is the 18th so I hope that works :)
Like I said - stayed tuned!
