Losing the extra marble...

Tuesday, March 17, 2009

I get this magazine from Body + Soul...I love it. I was reading this article in there this morning, and came across some really awesome stuff.
The author talked about Michelangelo and the statue of David. A legend is told about when he finished the statue of David, a local resident was in awe of what he had created and asked him how he did it. Michelangelo's response was "David was always there in the marble. I just took away everything that was not David."
Wow, that spoke volumes to me. I am inside everything I need to be, and being overweight is holding me back from everything I can be. I also realized that if I don't start to lose the extra weight, I am preventing someone else to be awed by the person God created me to be. I am not being egotistical, we all were created for a reason. I also am not putting myself down for being overweight. I have been this way for 20 years, and know that I have allowed the weight to hold me back. But no more, I am losing the extra marble!
We all have those moments in life where we don't know quite where we are going or even who we are. But staying in our comfort zone will keep us from finding out those things. Step out, step up, and let go of those things that you think will give you gratification. By doing that, your life will start to change for the better, so much better than you can possibly imagine. Doing the same thing over and over and expecting change is insanity.
We are there in the marble, being sculptured and chiseled as we change. Some of us have already achieved 'David' status, and kudos to you!! To those who are chiseling, keep chiseling and watch what the transformation come to life.

This was a beautiful reminder of the gift you are giving by caring for your self.

Marianne Williamson says "As we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same." You are doing great!
