Finally hit the big 5-0

Monday, March 16, 2009

From my highest weight back in June '08, I have finally taken off 50 lbs. Took about 8 months to do it, with some serious modifications of diet and exercise. Definately going gluten-free helped jump start it...that is a major enough change that conquering it made everything else seem do-able. Having chronic daily headache fueled my exercise commitment, as regular long cardio sessions and yoga really do seem to help my pain management. So, taking charge of my diet and exercise has helped bring some health problems under control PLUS I sure look better in my jeans! According to the dietician my ideal weight is still 15 lbs less, and I find it's coming off with more difficulty now. I am trying some "wogging" (walk/jog intervals) with my friend whose marathon training is a big motivation for me to not get complacent or give up. I am also getting rid of my bigger clothing so I will be forced to maintain what progress I've made. It's hard to buy new though, not knowing if I'll stay at this size or not. Thank goodness for thrift shops and consignment stores and friends who share clothes!

I appreciate all of the encouragement since I immediately rested on my laurels and gained back a pound. I really need to get jump-started again. Since I am at a pretty good weight it's easy to just think "whew, that's enough now pass the chips" but I need to reach my goal and I need to not fall right back to the bad habits.

cristy....you look absolutely gorgeous in your photo. Keep up your hard work and motivation. You are definitely on a roll. What an inspiration. An eighty pound weight loss is nothing to sneeze at since most of us find it difficult to lose even ten pounds! Be proud of your accomplishment. As your friend, I sure am...... emoticon
