First Anniversary

What an amazing year this has been...A year filled with blessings too numerous to count! Two weeks after joining SP, my breast cancer diagnosis was stunning, Stage III. While the blessings started when I joined SP, they really multiplied with this diagnosis! That may sound kind of strange, but the prayer support you have given me has been an experience like no other! My goals when joining SP ( to lose weight, adopt a healthier lifestyle, and grow in my relationship with Jesus Christ) were more than met. Maybe not how I thought they would be, but WOW! I will never be the same!

Six months of chemo, bilateral mastectomy, and seven weeks of daily radiation removed all traces of cancer from my chest and lymph nodes. Praise God! I would not be alive today were it not for His mercies and the skill and knowledge of my doctors. I am now on a maintenance medication ( and will be the rest of my life), and am receiving physical therapy to regain my strength and range of motion.

Exercise will never be a chore again! Long walks around Lake Johnson are so precious.

Food is for nourishment, not coping with stress. Prayer is for coping with stress.

Teaching my nursing students is not a job. It is a mission.

Loving my family and being loved by them is not my right. It is a gift.

The snow is more beautiful, the camelias more exquisite, and the birds sing a lovlier song. Life is precious. The doughnuts (yes, doughnuts!) are sweeter.

Next month a PET scan will tell us if we have been successful in holding the cancer back from the rest of my body. I pray that it is gone forever. Regardless, I am thankful for today.

Thank you all for your prayers and encouragement. I hope I have the opportunity to do the same for you.

    Hi Roxanne,
Thanks so much for your comments. Your attitude of gratitude is showing and that is inspiring to others. Thanks for taking the time to let others know what you have been through. Somehow our own situations don't seem so bad when we hear that others have had some challenges too.

Your blog was a blessing to me. It showed me what is really important in life besides my self centeredness.
I am also reading a book on battlefield of the mind, a must read for everyone. The auther's name is Joyce Meyers. I think you might now her. She is well known for her ministries.. She had a real hard life and God took her out and change it to something good. Praise Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He has a plan and that is a perfect plan. He knows his children and he will hear our cries and we will hear his voice. He is doing a mighty work in his children's life if we allow him. Amen ?
Love you in Christ and my thoughts and prayers are their for you

I learned to live in the "NOW" when my husband was diagnosed with cancer.
EMMANUEL! God is WITH us, NOW. It is so very precious to know and trust in Him, regardless of what comes our way.

For me, it was all about God's GRACE for the moment. He is so amazing. It may be strange to others what I am saying, but God "carried" us through that whole ordeal. Yes there were many SAD days, but I am very glad to have experienced it, because it taught me how very precious life is, and that He intends for us to live in the NOW.

I pray that you will have many more days with your family and that He will carry you through to the very end... whenever that may be.

Praise the Lord for your faith! You have definately been on one awesome journey this past year. My one year anniversary with SP will be in 2 weeks and I have had one of those 'rides' too. But with God on our side, who can be against us?

Congratulations on keeping the faith despite all that has happened to you this year. I wish you all the best this next year. I'll pray that your PET scan goes well. I go for a CT scan next month to check me out.
