It's been two months - can't believe it

Saturday, March 14, 2009

It has been an adventurous two months, if you consider being laid up with a broken leg as being adventurous!

I had surgery on February 9th to implant the prosthesis in my head, spent just one night in the hospital and then returned home from Seattle on the 11th. On the 13th, I got the cast removed from my right leg and started physical therapy the following week. It was good to be able to get back to exercising, walking the dogs.

Despite being laid up, not really watching what I was eating, I still lost three pounds! I guess I was watching what I was eating more than I thought I was.

Things are getting better, my leg is hurting less and less, the dogs and I are walking twice a day, most days. I've finally gotten into a regular strength training exercise routine.

Life is good and I thank Spark People and all of the support I have gotten from the Tri City Washington Spark team. emoticon

You're doing so awesome! Anytime I catch myself not wanting to go on a planned walk I think "if Donna's out walking so soon after a broken leg- what's keeping me from doing it?" Thanks for motivating me to get out the door and walk :)

I'll keep you in my prayers! I remember having knee surgery and feeling just cruddy because I couldn't get back to normal! But hopefully the mild weather around here keeps going, and you'll be doing more than just walking the dogs!

    Take care!
