Who is that girl? She has taken over my life.

Yesterday at days end I reflected upon my day and thought of all the things I did that day. I thought who is this person? She has tried a cycle class, volunteered for boot camp course twice, signed up for 2 5K’s plus a 5 mile walk and has been weight lifting …. It is me and I almost did not recognize her. A year ago, I would have laughed at you if you said that person would be me in the future. It is the small steps and goals, they keep adding up.

I made small strides in 2008. I joined a great group of women for stroller walking and play dates for the kids. I started taking a few classes at the gym. Join a few friendly accountability challenges for weight, inches and exercise. It is a snow ball effect. Don’t get me wrong I still have my moments. But those moments are just that, moments not a life sentence. I ask myself what have I done today and what can I do today?

The future Karen is an evolution of where I have been and where I am going. The possibilities are endless when you strive for little things. What you end up with is positive forward momentum. The 2009 upgraded model of Karen is interesting and bold compared to the old one. I am surely excited to see what I can do in 2009 and beyond.

So here is the big secret that everyone has been waiting for ….. Most of us already know what to do right? Eat right & exercise you know calories in vs. calories out. The real secret is to make small goals and celebrate all of your achievements along the way. Oh yeah, don’t forget to that the people that have helped you along the way!
