How HUNGRY are you?

Thursday, March 05, 2009

Have you ever been sooo hungry you could eat a horse? What about a moose? Well, I have one in my back yard that I am not so sure I would not give you...if you wanted it. hee hee. You see this 'little guy' is loving my raised bed. I love seeing him but I don't like what he is doing to my garden.

The snow is deep enough you can't see anything but he sure knows where it is. He will come in the yard, put his nose down, root around for a while and come up with stuff in his mouth. Then to make matters worse he will use his front feet to clear things out a little more. I know I will have to make major repairs to the beds before I can start planting in them this spring.

I do have to admit I love seeing the moose. I watch for them daily. I have a mother with twins. They step over the fence, walk through the yard and enjoy 'nosing' and pawing the ground. I keep my camera close at hand, shooting picture after picture. It was a real treat when the little one walked up the side walk, right to the front door as though to say "aren't you going to invite me in?
No? Well what if I ring your chimes?

I think the little bull is this cows last year or year before calf. He had spikes up until 2 weeks ago. The spikes(they just look like two sticks coming out of his head) are gone and now all you see is two sores on his head. Next year he should get a good size rack. Like this big guy.
He must be very careful then.

So I ask you again....How hungry are you? Hungry or HUNGRY???

Moose meat?? Now that is an interesting thought! How many calories per serving?!!
But I don't think I would want "your" moose, he is too cute!!
And then you wouldn't be able to share such wonderful pictures with us either!! ha ha
    This is a wonderful blog!

The only things I fight with in my gardens are squirrels, rabbits, and cats. Cats are the worse, they like to use the soft dirt for a bathroom!! grrrrrrr

Thanks for the blog. I look forward to more!!!!

I'm not hungry enough to eat you moose (would cost to much to have it shipped here). Thanks for sharing the pictures. I miss seeing the wildlife, now that we are stuck in the city.
