February Week 4

As I type this heading I realize I have not been keeping up with my blogs. It is my endeavor to recap each week. I am going to do better about this. This was a very good week for me and it feels good. I have been to the gym consistantly and have really enjoyed myself.

Since I didn't update on last week I must make note that I have begun taking a Zumba class and I have also added strength training to my workouts. I went to Zumba for the first time in a long time last week and I kind of enjoyed it. I have two left feet and never really learned how to dance so since I couldn't I would never go. Well, the instructor saw me in the locker room and remembered I had been before and asked me to come back. I did. I actually had a good time. So, I went again this week. I could not believe the workout I got this time. I normally don't sweat a lot, but this time it was running down my face. I needed my towel!! This was motivating so I am going to add this for a little variety.

Strength training - I have heard mixed reviews on this. People either love it or hate it or just don't know what to do. I have always liked it but a couple of years ago when I attempted to lose weight I did a lot of strength but didn't see any results in the weight loss department. Well, that was before SP and my understanding that cardio burns fat. So, I have been on this journey pretty doing all cardio. It worked - up until now. I have to make some changes to my routine to see more results and I know this is it. So, this week it was strength. I do a half hour of cardio then do my strength circuit and then another 30-45mins of cardio. I do the strength every other day. Now since I just started this week I have not seen the results but I am doing a full body circuit and I know this will help a lot. If nothing else, it will help tone which is needed in some key areas.

It is good to be back on track. This year has been kind of rocky but I am continuing to stay strong and not wavering from my goals. This is the time when so many give up, but not me. I am determined. I am half way to my goal and I refuse to quit. No one really knows how the body will respond to changes, but it is for sure that it will not change if nothing is done.

    Good for you! I have heard about the Zumba classes (especially on Spark Nashville) but the get together are always on the other side of town. Oh well, let's be honest...I"m doing good to stay on top of my walking! Keep up the good work!!
