Body Weight Calculator

Saturday, February 28, 2009

So I went to the gym today and did the body fat calculations. Basically I had to take my shoes and socks off and stand on this thing that looks like a scale. It took my weight, body mass index, water weight, muscle amount, and how many calories I burn just from sitting.

Water weight: 38%
Body Mass Index: 42
Muscle: 130
Calories Burned: 2,052

The lady who did it said my muscle number needs to be slightly higher. She said my water weight needs to go up to at least 50% and my BMI needs to go down significantly. She said to try it again in 3 weeks to see how I'm doing. emoticon

I wouldn't put too much faith in a "scale" you step on to tell you those numbers! It's just a general number based on how much you weight. It's just a tool for those who are actually fit. Figuring your body mass has to include your height ... period. Here's a great BMI calculator:

You would need to see a doctor in order to know what your body composition is. Fat, water, lean muscles mass, etc. I've never heard of a person's weight being 50% water, but I'm not discounting it. You mentioned your trainer in a PMA team post and it's not all that clear if she has the appropriate training to give you the advice a DOCTOR would/should be giving you. You have all the resources here on spark to calculate ALL your dietary, fitness and weight goals. Spark People is one of the best sites on the internet for good, solid and proven advice on weight loss, fitness and when we're finally there ... maintenance!
