Lent - Day 3

Friday, February 27, 2009

I miss the culture of being Catholic. After 13 years of attending Catholic school, the rituals have become second nature. I stopped calling myself one at 14 & by 16 was a firm agnostic. After high school, I stopped going to Mass & have been seeking a spiritual path ever since.

As part of my yoga practice, I've spent part of February noticing how truth (Satya) shows up in my life. To my dismay, I learned I'm not very truthful, especially around food & weight. Last night I made some admissions to DH - a) my current weight is my comfort zone; b) that I do in fact want to lose another 20-30 lbs.; & c) I'm trying to process feelings brought up by my mom coming back from the Philippines - & I feel a burden lifted.

Whew. One day at a time, I move forward towards my best life ever.

PS - I stayed within my calorie range today. Hooray!

I think I know what you mean about missing the religious culture. I grew up Mormon, and they had an incredibly extensive social system. There are times I miss that, but I definitely don't miss the dogma.
