How did this happen?

I don't understand what I'm doing wrong. I weighed myself yesterday and I was 270. I weighed myself this morning and I'm now 278. I gained 8 pounds and I don't know how. I've only been eating on average 1300 calories a day and working out everyday for 45 minutes to an hour. I'm so upset and discouraged with myself. I don't get what I'm doing wrong. emoticon emoticon

    You've gotten some great input so far. Losing weight is such a trial and error thing!!

    On your Nutrition Tracker, are you tracking your Sodium? May be that you are eating too much and retaining fluid. Would be good to look at that. Do you drink caffeine? Or take meds with it in them? Caffeine is a diuretic ... it will pull fluid out of you and then your tissue will hold onto the fluids it does get. So when you are good and drink all that nice water, it retains it. Canned foods? They are high in sodium.

    Is it your time of month? That's going to impact things. My sister retains fluid two different weeks during the month ... isn't she lucky!? LOL!

    What about sleep? If you aren't getting enough sleep, you probably aren't going to lose weight.

    I only weigh once a week. I want to get up there every day, but when I do, I am disappointed if I've gained or if the number doesn't go down fast enough.

    That is a lot in a day. This certainly isn't pounds gained. Maybe you had heavier clothes on, or weighed yourself at a different time. Perhaps you even stepped on the scale wrong it it wasn't accurate. Don't worry about it. Maybe you could try to only weigh in once a week that way you don't get discouraged.

    try weighing yourself only in the morning, at the same time of day if you are like me and need to weigh yourself more than once a week. At least then, you have a more accurate rating. Also, be sure you are drinking enough water!

    First of all, don't let yourself get down about it. Weight can really fluctuate from day to day so put that scale away and only get on it once a week to get a more accurate reading. Also, you may not be eating ENOUGH calories. Enter your workout plan for the week into the fitness tracker and see how it changes your calories. If you are working out everyday for that long you just may not be eating enough and your body is holding onto what it can. Stick with it and just try playing around with some stuff. You can do it!!
