Self-conscious in my swimsuit

Monday, February 23, 2009

Went swimming this morning for the first time in forever & felt self-conscious in my one-piece. I've got a long way to go before I can comfortably wear that bikini. June's going to be here before I know it & I haven't netted a loss since the start of the year.

I'm optimistic - I know I've got plenty of time to get where I want to be. My knee may have thrown a kink in the plans, but I'm creative. I can get my heart rate up on the bike & swimming's proving to be a challenge as well. Physical therapy starts in a couple weeks & I'm committed to that 100%.

DH asked me if I knew much about T-Nation's Velocity Diet; it's now on version 3.0. All I knew of it was that it was mostly shakes w/ a solid meal thrown in once a week. It's definitely a strict plan, but I trust the science behind it. It'll be a hefty chunk of change to buy the powders & shakes, plus I'm intimidated by the whole idea of it being so strict, so I'm not sure if I want to give it a shot.

Pros: only 28 days, simple meal plan, no calorie/gram counting, can yield awesome results when followed as directed, will reduce grocery bill
Cons: very strict meal plan, fork over $$$ up front

Will see. I may just feel the fear & do it anyway, b/c heck, I've got a bikini to wear!

(i've never heard of that diet but make sure it's good for your health before you commit to it. i'm very weary of 'diets' and quick weight loss strategies. i want you to be strong AND healthy AND fit. ::hugs::

i'm sorry you felt self-conscious in your one piece. think about how much progress you've made. focus on the positive as much as you can.)

Over the short term on the plan you WILL see a weight loss, but it may not be as productive as you hope for. By drinking shakes only, you will NOT be getting the vitamins and minerals your body needs, that you would be getting from real, raw food. In my opinion, you might be loosing out in other areas of your body (there's more to life then weight loss, you know?)

But for a short period of time... if you restrict ANYTHING from your diet, you WILL see a weight loss (as I am realizing myself by limiting carbs currently for my competition) but I definitely don't think this is something I'll make a habit of doing! Once a year, MAX!

I hope your physical therapy offers your knee the tlc it needs right now!

Who knows--it just might work for you. I lost over 20# on Medifast before I got bored.
