Me and my thyroid

Sunday, February 22, 2009

After about 4 year's of my doc telling me i was depressed and pumping me full of anti depressants i didn't need,a lady who started buying egg's from who owns a local health food store told me to get a second opinion because what i described to her sounded like a thyroid issue well let me tell you at first i went back to My doc and asked her to do a thyroid test which she agreed to and when the result's came back she said they were normal... I started doing research on thyroid condition's and i just couldn't get past the fact that what i was experiencing sure seemed to sound just like hypothyroidism. As i continued to read more i found that thyroid testing can be a little tricky and sometimes they give negative result's, so my next visit i asked the nurse if that could be the case with my test and she very sharply stated that the tests they give are fail proof and at that point i thought to myself nothing in this world is perfect and i went back to my friend an got the name of a doc just across the state line.. Not only is my thyroid no making enough of the hormone it's suppose to but my vitamin D levels were very low and my new doc said that with my vitamin D levels being that low that it was probably the biggest cause of my thyroid problem. I've just recently joined Spark people and finally began losing weight that there was originally no explanation as to why I was gaining or why i was so pale and very tired all the time. Now I'm on track and have lost about 10 lbs so far, I have another 15 to go and I will have reached my goal. emoticon
