Ha! Taco Bell: I've foiled you!

My FH and I are quite sick with a cold right now. I was out sick from work yesterday and half of today. Since I slept late, I slept through breakfast and had a small lunch before I went in to work. Then, when I was getting ready to head home, my man asked me to pick up Taco Bell. He said he didn't want to mess with my weight loss plan, and I said no problem. I went to Taco Bell's website and SP before making my way toward the Border so I would know exactly what to order.
I knew that Taco Bell had a new Fresco menu, but I had been apprehensive about trying it; two of my favorite toppings are sour cream and cheese! But then I remembered that I had light sour cream at home, as well as FF cheddar. I decided to keep one of my old menu items (nachos supreme), but substitute the sour cream for guacamole. Then I got two Fresco Ranchero Chicken Soft Tacos and one Fresco Steak Soft Taco. I know, it's a lot of food but I hadn't eaten much all day!
When I got home I got out my sour cream and measured out two tbsp to be spread out on all of my items. I had the cheese out too but ended up not using it. And surprisingly, the Fresco tacos were really good! I didn't miss the cheese one bit! And, the nachos seemed somewhat gross in comparison to the Fresco items. Next time I will definitely order all Fresco items and come home and add a little light sour cream for extra flavor. Who knows? Maybe I'll get to the point where I don't even want the sour cream!
I just logged my food from today. Everything is well within range (even if I had eaten breakfast I would still have been in range). Then I got back on Taco Bell's website to compare what I ordered tonight and what I usually get. By ordering mostly Fresco items, and even with adding back in my light sour cream and a small amount of guacamole, I saved over 300 calories and over 20 grams of fat! Just by getting rid of cheese and sour cream!!!
I am so happy with myself. And I'm only going to continue to get better. I am so grateful to Sparkpeople and the skills I am learning. I have no doubt I can continue to make these small changes toward a better, healthier lifestyle. Not to mention losing some weight and looking good!
