The Ups and Downs

I've been struggling with a couple plateaus since Christmas. The weight was not coming off every week as it had been in the past. I couldn't figure out what was happening. I wasn't gaining, just sitting like a lump. Even though I had my wonderful friends cheering me on and helping me, it was getting a little frustrating.

The scale has now begun to slide down for two weeks in a row and I think I'm finally on the move again. The only thing that I can figure out is that I had begun using the Leslie Sansone walking videos every day and have worked myself up to 3-5 miles a day. I think I was putting on some muscle weight! I can tell that my body is firming up and I know muscle weighs more than fat so it only makes sense. The true test came yesterday when I went out to try on jeans.....ARGH!! I hate buying jeans, but my old ones were so baggy. My husband handed me a sale flier with "jeans" circled and actually drove me to the store so I would buy some new ones! He said my butt was too saggy! I'm down another size in jeans and looking not too shabby- even from behind (heh, heh). These new ones, are not stretch...and don't even have elastic parts in the waist! Wahoo!

I've learned that I need to be that I'm doing all I can and not worry about numbers. I'm gaining strength, confidence, and endurance....I'm losing fat, inches, aches and pains, cholesterol and high blood pressure...the "ups and downs" are all in the right direction! Life is good....
