First.....I did it! Woo Hoo...Yippee....Hoorah! Woot Woot!
But here is the deal.... running is soooo mind over matter! The first mile was really hard....I took a quick break for a drink of water at mile one....literally about 10 seconds...then back on there... I kept thinking about why running was so hard today and how in the world was I ever going to do 5 miles! Pretty soon mile two was done....I even sped up for the last 1/3 mile and then let myself get a sip of water and I walked for 1/10th of a mile at that point. I have a mental block that I can't get over ..... I can run two straight miles...but can't seem to do 3 straight miles without a break....I will work on that next week.
On to mile 3.... at this point I am thinking...yes I know that the training schedule says 5 miles...but I would be happy with 4 miles.... Nice huh? So I powered through the third mile and let myself take a quick water break and started walking for about 1/10 of a mile again. Just a breather I was thinking!
About half way through the 4th mile I was dying.... I was sure of it! But then something changed...I think that I just got mad. I really wanted to finish this. I walked again briefly after mile 4...and then ran the rest of the 5th mile...at even faster speeds. I can't believe that I did it! It felt awesome!
