On the road again

BHE (Before Healthy Eating), each road trip was a license to binge. Stopping often, loading up on junk at each gas station. Hotel stays meant more treats and parking my behind in front of the cable tv. Food became a much anticipated part of the trip, and this has been one of the hardest habits to break.

As I head out Thursday night on a 7 hour road trip, already fraught with feeling due to the reason for traveling (death in the family), I go armed with the following reminders:

#1 Remember a time you gave in to temptation. Now remember a time you resisted.
#2 Track everything! If you don’t want to write it down, don’t eat it!
#3 My motivational saying: I am mighty! If you don’t believe me, just check out my biceps.
#4 Motivational saying #2, just in case: Candy bars never made you happy, but your size 4 jeans do.
#5 I’ll be wearing my tightest, most favoritest jeans.
