Alligator mouths and Hummingbird butts

Tuesday, February 03, 2009

There is a saying about not letting your alligator mouth overload your hummingird butt. Well I am purposely letting my alligator mouth go the last week my alligator mouth has signed me up for a 3 mile heart walk in May and then a 7.46 mile walk/run in April (and yes, I know, the long one is first).

I am not crazy. I am sane - well as sane as I can

I am putting myself out there to succeed by finishing.

I have a friend here at SP who has done a couple of these walks in her area and I told her that I want to be like her. Well - as I have told my eldest - talk is cheap - action is the name of the game. I find Hester a success because she tried and did. If I want to be like successful people - what do I have to do. Hester got up and did it so I need to get up and do it.

Lifecoaches will tell you that when you tell others of your goals you are more likely to complete the task to get to the goal. When you have a solid plan for how to reach the goal when teamed up with telling others - it is nearly a guaranteed success.

So.....I am telling you all....I am doing these races. I may walk the whole time. But I WILL FINISH. I WILL SUCCEED. I WILL TAKE THE NEXT STEP TO BEING HEALTHY.

I can do this. I will do this. Consider it done.

You signed up that was the hard part. You finish the walk in April, the walk in May will be a piece of cake. The thing to remember when you do this is to do your own race. Your going to see people in their little tights and their shorty shorts running all over town. Don't worry about them, just focus on what you need for yourself to get you through the event. Make sure that you go potty before you start. Have a bottle of water in the car waiting for you. They probably will have some water stations during the race, but it's always good to make sure you have some for the ride home. Gum is good thing to have too, it will keep you mouth from getting a dry. Listen to the weather the night before and dress for the conditions of the day. If it's hot you don't want to be in heavy sweats, if it is cold you want to have layers to stay warm. Wear comfortable shoes. If you have an MP3 player, put in some songs that will keep your spirits up. When you finish celebrate, pat yourself on the back. It doesn't matter what place you came in if you finish then you are already a winner. You could be home sitting on the couch, but you chose to get off you butt and get out there.
