Secret Weigh In

Monday, January 26, 2009

I decided not to weigh myself in the beginning... well that's not entirely true.

I have my boyfriend weigh me every two weeks with my eyes closed. He puts the numbers in an envelope with the date on it. Eventually I would like to know how I progressed numerically towards my goal. I plan on opening them the morning of March 12th. That will give me exactly 10 weeks to reach my first goal of 160lbs.

Until then I'll focus on moment to moment decisions rather than numbers. I keep the numbers hidden because I don't want to, during a moment of weakness, use a less then spectacular weight lose week as an excuse to quit doing what I know will eventually work over the long haul.

The numbers are important as goal posts of progress. But I control how the numbers are used. I don't let them control me. Some people weigh themselves in order to adjust what they are doing in order to have quicker loses. But I do the best I can do everyday and that's all I can do. And eventually that will pay off.
