Weekend Riders

Saturday, January 24, 2009

1/24/09: Okay, so I am admitting I have a problem...WEEKENDS! Most of them seem to de-rail all of my efforts during the rest of the week. Any weight I lose...I pretty much end up gaining back on the weekend. It's frustrating for me. So, I have decided to take my problem and find a way to fix it. First, I had to figure out what is different about weekends that make it a problem. I don't have an issue with my exercising...I do what I normally do and then even more sometimes with our challenges. So, here is what I have come up with so far. My list might end up growing some more if as I go along other issues pop up, but for now here it is...

1) I don't drink enough water (during the week I drink anywhere between 15-20 glasses
2) When friends come over I tend to eat more because the food is out there and I don't portion out
3) Alcohol (both the actually calories in the drink itself and the extra food I end up eating because I have been drinking)
4) Camping (we sit around the fire and snacks are always available and it's just what we do)

So, how do I fix this? Right now I have formed a "Weekend Riders" group on my Onyx Outlaws team and we are on our 1st weekend. This initial one is simple...pick one thing that de-rails you during the weekend and work on fixing it. For me it's drink at least 15 glasses of water. I have accomplished that for Saturday...so one down and one to go.

I hope to take the opportunity while I am a Weekend Rider to get my weekend issue under control so I can always control it and not let it control me.

1/25/09: I did it! I was able to drink 15+ glasses of water both Saturday and Sunday. Now to keep up with it...my plan is to keep doing this each and every weekend. So, now what? Well, this weekend I am going camping....another weekend issue I have. My plan is to make sure I only have 3 snacks each day and I portion out whatever it is that I am snacking on before I even take one bite. Hopefully that will stop me from overindulging on the snacks. I also plan on taking lots of walks this weekend, and continue with drinking my water. That should also help with my feeling that I have to be eating something.

I won't be around a computer so I will have to let you know how the weekend goes after I get home...so, wish me luck!

To be cont'd....
