first treadmill day

Friday, January 23, 2009

I was encourage by some Sparks People who are doing daily treadmill time. Today at work I had free time so I used it for excercise instead of reading as aI normally do. I enjoyed the time I spent on the treadmill. It was not difficult but could become a little boring unless I bring music with me. I am devoting more to thinking of ways to add excerise to my days. I have also walk outside but it is kind of cold for that. I believe excercise is the answer for losing additional weight but I don't know how much will do the trick but I DO know I'm not doing enough yet.

I need a regular plan. Maybe 3 days a week of treadmill and 2 days of sp vidios. I think 1/2 is good for starters. I want to stay aactive because I am in my 60's now and it is easy to get sedentary and that is not a good plan. Retiring means not working but it does not mean not staying active. Sports such as bowling can work for me and I may try yoga. I'm pleased that I am exploring ideas and look forward to weight loss as a bonus. Bernie emoticon emoticon

I agree that exercise is a great way to shed those extra pounds. My plan has been to walk at least two miles a day or one hour which adds a bit. I have met my 2 miles plus according to my pedometer but need to concentrate on taking an hour special to walk. Trouble is that something always gets in my way such as meeting special friends for breakfast that lasts until noon, etc. Glad you explained about the blog. I checked to be notified when you post one. A nice way to keep track of each other.

Bernie, that's great! I use my treadmill almost everyday, and I acutally read and watch t.v. while I work out. Reading on the treadmill is not for everyone though. Some people say they get dizzy. Try it and see if it's for you. It sure makes the time go by faster.

The treadmill was my first place I started exercising. And yes, music helps a TON! Then you realize that if you have a fast song, you walk faster. That becomes fun, or at least it did for me. Another thing I've realized, it is best if you do try different types of exercises. That eliminates the boredom. (Which is why I'm checking out Zumba now emoticon )
