I had a MAJOR toothache (the kind that gets all the others hurting in sympathy) for 2 weeks. I found out (courtesy of the internet) that cloves are a natural home remedy for that, so I got the cloves (which I have never used) out of my spice rack, put a few in a glass, put in a little water, nuked the concoction (1 minute is too long; MAJOR spill-over), let it "steep" till the water was colored (clove oil?), dipped a Q-tip into it, and swabbed my hurting teeth. Voila! No more pain. I was still pain free when I went to the dentist this afternoon to have the offensive tooth pulled. Said tooth had broken several years ago, been patched, and broke some more and the "patch" was gone, so I just wanted to get rid of the thing. It broke into lots of pieces, but it's gone! Now my mouth is beginning to wake up, so I guess I'll go ahead and take a pain pill before things get really bad.

I forgot about cloves. My Mom, who will be 87 this year used to use that trick when I was growing up. Thanks for reminding me!

Oh, I didn't know to do that (microwave!) What I've done is put a few cloves into cheesecloth and smooshed them once with a hammer, then put the little packet along to sore tooth.
WOW! I have LEARNED something new today! THANKS! And hope you feel better soon!!!
