My first 9 days back on track are going great! As of yesterday, I'd lost 4 pounds in 9 days! I'm halfway to my goal in less than half the time! I stuck to my net cal goals, drank a TON of water and even made time for Tae Bo while at work (while the baby naps). I also have incorporated tuna into my diet so that I am really getting the lean protein I need every day. I'm also eating at least 1.5 cups of spinach a day and eating whole wheat pasta every day (lots of fiber). The biggest pro-health physical activity thing I did was to go out dancing with friends on Saturday. I danced for 4-5 hours STRAIGHT. I'm 'trained' in hip-hop dancing and dances like the salsa, the rhumba, and meringue, so I really got my sweat on and danced HARD. I had so much fun. I love dancing so much. I'm going to see if I can do this every weekend, on Saturdays. The 'drinking' portion of the evening was a little expensive, but I enjoyed myself so much and I love being physically active. Plus, I'm not a big drinker normally, AND dancing sweats it all out pretty quickly, so luckily I don't suffer the side effects (namely hangovers) of drinking as others might. According to sparkpeople, I burned 1728 calories dancing as much as I did. Awesome!
A big thing I'm working on - psychologically - is to really ENJOY what I'm eating. Yes, I'm watching my calorie intake very carefully, but I also eat goat cheese, pasta, and maybe some tortilla chips, hummus and salsa (and the sort) every day. I love rich, spicy, cheesy, carb foods, so it's important to me to include these in my "diet."
I'm also doing something I used to do when I was marathon training in 2005, which is eat large lunches and small dinners. I find that this is more satisfying to me and means I'm not consuming many calories after 2pm, which I think is good for my metabolism, since I tend to be more sedentary in the evenings.
Anyway, I'm feeling VERY encouraged and very proud of myself, especially because I don't feel like I'm DEPRIVING myself of anything as I am trying to lose weight. I eat a little bit of dark chocolate every day, I eat my cheese (as I mentioned), so I do feel like I'm enjoying myself even as I try to be healthier. :)
