"Grand" Haven...?
Saturday, January 10, 2009
I've been rocking this past week carving out my "haven" upstairs. My son helped me to move my 250+ pound treadmill upstairs just before Christmas so we would have enough room in our living room for the tree. So we set my 'mill up in our storage or "junk" room. Since then I've been whittling away at stuff, setting up a stereo, speakers poised at a perfect height for me while I'm on my treadmill. Getting adapters so I can plug my mp3 player into the stereo...
AND I dusted off an old full length mirror...one of those oval type that swivel at the mid-point...and positioned it right in front of the treadmill so I can see myself.
That is a REAL challenge as all my life I have been so AVERSE to mirrors and seeing myself. Even after losing the weight I've lost I still cringe at times when I see myself. I rarely have a "pat-myself-on-the-back," "you-look-MAHVALOUS" moment...lol!
I'm hoping this may help me to feel more comfortable in my skin and who knows? Maybe learn to feel like I actually look ALL RIGHT! :-)
Today I did my third GRAND of the week! In probably my latest night time treadmill session ever...weird! I just haven't been a night time exerciser in the past. But it seems on the weekend that it just cannot happen any other time.
Anyhow, it's super to enjoy my "haven" and knock off another 1,000 calories...even though it's the name of a town in Michigan, I'm tempted to name my workout room: "Grand Haven"...lol!
I almost tossed in the towel at around 750 calories burned, but hey, with Sly & the Family Stone chanting "Higher" over and over was I going to wuss out THEN?!?!
So folks, it's a new year, set our sights for "HIGHER" goals & accomplishments and keep SOARING and giving each other friendly boosts here and there...woo hoo!!
