How many calories in a McDonalds Fish Sandwich?

Tuesday, January 06, 2009

There are a group of us that meet every Tuesday for lunch at a small restaurant around the corner from the Church we all attend. We have been meeting there every Tuesday for years and so we have become very good friends. The only problem with going to the same place is that you become so familiar with the menu and somewhat bored with eating the same specials every week. We do like the fact that we get waited on promptly and our coffee cups are kept filled. Most of the time we have the place to ourselves and can laugh and talk as loud as we want to. Usually I order a salad.

Today I ordered a Fish Sandwich I don't know why really ~ guess I was just tired of salads and being so good about my choices and only losing a pound. When it came it was on a small bun, a small white fish fillet ~ no more then 3oz fried to a crisp brown. On the side was lettuce and tomato, along with tiny containers of condiments. Now I was looking at it and thinking there are probably 500 or 600 calories at least in the lunch. I ate it ~ used very little mayo did not eat the top of the bun and when through was still hungry. Next time will order my regular Chef Salad with oil and vinegar dressing on the side.

Tonight I checked out the calorie count. Could only find the MacDonald's Fish Sandwich listed ~ calories 370. Not as bad as I had thought. I had stayed well within my calorie count today. Sigh of relief!!

    Hi Dot,

I love fish sandwiches. Even the ones that are not as great health wise for me as some would like.

It is not easy to find places that offer, say putting grilled fish on some healthy bread stuff or something. If you do find it; it probably breaks my bank, LOL.

I still order that McDonalds fish sandwich when I get there and feel like it.

I will admit the last time I did order it without the cheese and with the tartar sauce on the side LOL. I almost felt a little like the character on the "When Harry Met Sally" movie in doing it that way.

It is still good to know when you plunge in, that you track and find yourself still in your ranges.

Yesterday I had a close call to Well over my range (if I did not read things).

My daughter and I had to walk back from CVS Pharmacy, as I had to get a script filled there. A friend drove us there, but we had to walk back.

On the way back, I had gotten each of us a LARGE hershey bar with almonds on sale. 2 for something less than normal price, or a gimmick of getting extra CVS bucks or something.

I was about to start eating the WHOLE bar, when I read the label... 190 calories a serving.

Then though I noticed it ALSO said the bar was 3 servings! LOL. Good thing I read the label. I broke off what looked to be about a 1/3 of it to eat.

That was not even easy as the squares were not to be easily divided (into thirds) LOL. Even though 190 was quite a splurge of a snack considering I ate well yesterday, I did stay with my range with the 1/3 bar. Now today I will eat another third of it, LOL.
