Ready to Shine in 2009!?!

Monday, January 05, 2009

Here we are at the beginning of another year. I wrote out my resolutions and then looked up my goals for 2008; they look pretty much the same. Realistically some of them are things I will always be working on like: spend my time with hubby and become more consistent with devotions (because there's never enough); good things to be working on. But some of them are things I should be accomplishing and moving on from -- like losing this weight and getting my house in order. At least I'm not starting all over I do have 35 pounds gone -- and probably will drop a bunch as this prednisone leaves my body and I lose my holiday water weight.

2008 was a very transitional year. I moved my mom to a different apartment and got her set up pretty well. My daughter moved from dorm life to her first apartment and that meant all kinds of new stuff. My son moved in with his girlfriend which meant stuff came to my basement. My BIL got married which was a huge affair. It was a hectic year which really seemed to fly past. I worked toward my weight loss and was making some strides but it seems like when I realized I wasn't going to make it in time for my "deadline", I gave up. I took a little "vacation" from Thanksgiving to New Years which I think I really needed. I got sick Christmas evening and got pumped full of steroids which are messing with my body, but that should be cycling through soon. Through all of this I realized how much I enjoy feeling healthy! And I'm ready to get back there!! and Beyond!!

I know I need to continue to strive to be better or I never will be better -- and This year will be different!! This is going to be the year that I lose the rest of this weight!! or get tantilizingly close to it!!

So here are my resolutions. There are two main resolutions and under them what I'm going to change to accomplish them.

Lose 50 pounds!!
1) eat healthy foods
2) make smart choices to stay in calorie range
3) exercise daily
4) review and use Beck principles
5) remain active on Spark Teams

Become More Organized / Disciplined
1) schedule my time each day
2) put routines in place and use them
3) don't waste time
4) don't procrastinate things that need to be done
5) make time for important things

Working on me
1) make time for Bible reading and prayer
2) spend more time preparing for Sunday School
3) spend more time with hubby
4) take time to take care of myself
5) spend time with friends

Household things to accomplish
1) work on clutter
2) clean out basement
3) paint bedroom
4) paint front room and bathroom
5) work on back yard
6) landscape front yard
7) have yard sales
8) sell things on e-bay
9) develop budget and pay bills on time
10) finish decorating livingroom

Wow, I've got a lot to do -- Better get busy!!

Hello fearless Beck leader. Your list is a great way to keep on track. I hope you put yourself as #1, take care of yourself so you are able to take care of others.

I like small weekly goals. I try to keep to deadlines, but really they are fluid things. Any little progress is a move in the right direction, regardless of time frame.

Hi Susan, sounds like you have a well written plan for this year. I know you can do it - you know you can do it and with the support of God, your family both at home and here at SparkPeople you WILL DO IT!!! I believe it!

I did notice we share one thing in common, in the past when I realize I am not going to meet a goal I just give up. Now I am going to continue to the goal and just do my best. And set me another goal - maybe more realistic.

Good luck in '09!!! Take care!
