Start Strong! Finish Strong!

Hi SparkWorld!

Any of you who have followed a thread I've started will recognize the title, Start Strong! Finish Strong!

This has a special meaning for me. I wanted to take a little time to share what that is.

Now, I don't want to disappoint you that this has to do with some heart wrenching story of a loved one who died with this anecdote on their lips, or a heart warming story of a loved one who lived by this mantra and made something of themselves.

No, that's not it.

It's just and idea I like. It's like "Go Strong or go home" or something. It reminds me not to just show up, but to show up with an attitude. Anyone can show up. Just look at the pews in church on any given Sunday and see the folks who show up just thinking that by being there they have a relationship with God. I don't buy that with church and I don't buy that with Life.

So, here's my little secret. Not a juicy one, but not something I post on the bulletin board at work. I don't always start strong. I don't always finish strong. Shoot, sometimes I don't start, or when I start, I don't finish.

After careful reflection and soul searching I have had an epiphany. My little secret makes me.....

But the beautiful thing is that I get a new shot every day, every morning. I get another crack at life, to build on what I did wrong and what I did right. How cool is that?

Gang, I got no answers to the big questions. Sometimes I don't know if I can give a solid true/false answer to the simple things. But I know this:

I love my wife and kids. I love God. I love my church family.

I'm about the luckiest guy on earth.

So, I'm gonna remember my phrase, "Start Strong! Finish Strong!" I don't believe I'll hit it perfectly every day. But I started strong today. And I plan to start strong tomorrow. I'll let the day after that take care of itself.
