"I Made It Through The Holiday"

Sunday, November 30, 2008

Well I'm proud of myself, for the first time ever I didn't eat like a
maniac on a holiday. I actually was stressing myself out over this. Last year at this time, I ate like a hog, at "Thanksgiving & XMAS" My family doesn't know how to cook just a little. They make enough, (without kidding), to feed an army.
So you can imagine the different variety of foods. They all look & believe me,
taste terrific.
That's what I get for having Italian parents. I ate all the lean meat, no gravy, no mashed potatoes, I ate sweet potato, plain, which I like that way and
a variety of veggies.
The homemade cherry cheese cake is my weakness. I could sit down & eat the whole darn thing. I did have a taste, it was a tiny piece. I'm so elated over this.
This is the first time I ate cheescakes, that you couldn't even find it
on the plate.
Now I know I'll be fine on "Christmas" I can & will control myself, & I owe this To my "Spark Friends" who are the best friends ever.
I weighted .02 oz. more the day after "Thanksgiving" Normally I would never weigh myself after a holiday, but I did this time. It's a first for me!

Hey there. I think I was up .2 also, but that is nothing at all. Good for you on surviving the holiday without overeating. Sounds like you did a good job of balancing it all and making good choices but not feeling deprived. I grew up in an Italian family--lots of meatballs, pasta, and bread of course. So I get what you mean and no, Italians do not know how to NOT overdo it!!! So good job taking care of youself on that day and good luck w the upcoming holidays. You'll be fine judging by your great attitude.
