Weight training and boxing update

Monday, November 17, 2008

Weight training is going awesome. Switch my time from 4:00pm to 5:30am and its been great to work out so early in the morning. I have been doing that for a little over a month and Ive dropped 11lbs which brings my total weight loss to 210lbs and I am estatic I even dropped inches and have gone down 2 sizes this year. My weight trainer is the best I could ever find. He is a bodybuilder and competed for the first time last year in the Mr. Ohio contest and he won first place in the heavy weight division and came in 2nd for Mr. Ohio. Im so proud of him. He is getting ready to compete for next year in Cleveland Oh and to have the chance to get to watch and learn from him has truly been amazing. I told him he has helped me save my life, he has given me the tools I needed to never be over 400lbs ever again. I workout with him 4 times a week and he continues to challenge me and we go over my diet. To find a trainer who really cares about my success is an answer to prayer. He is exactly what I prayed for, thats whats so awesome about our Heavenly Father he not only answers our prayers but he gives us the very best thank you Jesus.

Boxing is going great as well. I have switched trainers which was not easy to do she has shown me the technique of combinations and footwork how to hit the heavy bag, and speed bag. Worked on offense and defense of boxing with mit training, I found that I enjoyed this workout so much that I wanted to take it to the next level and I felt she couldnt take me there. I want to start sparring and work more on offense and defense of boxing and to do that I need to get in the ring. So I found a gym that has a boxing ring and boxing classes. In the meantime I continue to workout at home with everything she has taught me. I have a heavy bag and a speed bag at home which I work on my combinations and footwork. I do my road work and work on dipping and slipping, and bobbing and weaving. I shadow box alot which is a great workout for the legs. To stay on your toes for 2 to 3 minutes is not easy but I stuck with it and now its no problem. Boxing has taught me to be patient with myself, to learn to react and not think so much about each combination. There is alot going on all at one time and it never gets boring Im always learning something new. I have more respect for boxers, I didnt realize that boxing is more than throwing punches, its timing, rhythm, patience determination and discipline.

I have 70 more lbs to lose before I get to my goal. This journey has truly changed me in the way I think about myself and I have learned that no matter how long it takes or how much weight you have to lose or what other people say its not about them its about me. To finally put myself first and do the work that it takes to get this weight off has made me grow and mature into a better person, a more confident person and a person who knows that anything can be achieved if you do the work, eat right and get rid of all the excuses that make us fail. I finally like what I see in the miror, and now when I look at myself I can look at myself without disgust or pity but with joy, thankfulness and a great new body.

All praise goes to my Heavenly Father

Jesus first
