What Do I Love About Myself?

Wednesday, November 12, 2008

There's not much that I can say.... I just keep bouncing between 201 and 206 but people keep coming up to me and saying, "Your losing more weight again, aren't you?" When I explain that I have been stuck for well over a year they just can't believe it. I suppose my body is just redistributing the weight so that I appear to be making progress. I love that! I alsolove that Icanfit comfortably into some larges instead of the tents I had to wear before losing some weight.

Since the 18th of October I have recorded my food a total of only5 days but I have been continuing to maintain. I have been backing off and spending less and less time on SP due to feeling burned out from the pressure of trying to keep up with responsibilities for teams I co-lead and challenges I have been participating in.

I was deeply touched by your expression of frustration and disappointment about not losing the weight as you expected. This can only be compounded by the fact that you are in a position of leadership. I want to encourage you to continue, because being a leader doesn't mean that you have to be a super person. You are a very dear human person. It is evident in the care and concern you have for your family and your spark team. I myself have trouble being faithful to posting my food and exercise on spark people. My weight has gotten stuck in a rut also. In fact this is the first time that I have ever posted a blog in response to any coment.

What I do want to tell you is that if you can walk at all now, don't wait til after your knee surgery to get moving. Add some type of movement to your day. Add steps by loading the washing machine one piece at a time, or take the long route aroud the house to put out the trash. You can also stretch or lift small weights while watching tv.

I pray you wont quit. Mainly because you have encouraged me to keep trying and not give up.

the part of the equation you have probably not measured is how much muscle mass have you gained ? everyone is aware that muscle weighs more than fat so as you do more exercise you may be putting on as well as taking off
the net result will be :
you look better but the scale may not reflect that.
I got measured at the gym by a trainer
the same trainer has measured me over the last year every 3 monthe
    my last weigh in
    My bmi dropped 21 %
    my weight loss 12 lbs
my lean muscle mass up 3.3 pounds
my fat loss 7 % on the nose
so although I lost 12 pounds of fat
    I gained 3.3 of muscle
so I will look thinner than if I just lost 12 lbs
    does this make sense ?

people say the same to me
first it takes them a while to notice, then they can't stop noticing right?

Sharon, I do hope you are doing well. I know what you mean about being burned out with the SP teams. I too had that problem as well as the death of my husband to contend with over the 2008 year. I have done a very poor job of taking care of me physically although the travel and spending time with friends and family did well for me mentally. I think in 2009 I will be ready to get back on track and take care of me first. I will try to get back to SP more often but just can't let it control my life like before. Let me know how you are doing. Love, Rosy

Sharon, I am in the same boat as you. What I have been hearing lately is that if you are stuck, try some variety as your body gets comfortable with routines..that applies to menu choices, exercise routines...everything. I am trying to speed up/slow down as I walk and have tried to add time on our ExeRow (I am going slowly there at adding time so as not to develop sore muscles!) See what YOU can do to vary your routines.

I might also suggest that if all the responsibility is causing stress, take a vacation from it wherever possible. Put someone else in charge for a while or reduce the number of teams you are involved so actively with.

Sharon...I am so sorry to hear that you are feeling so burned out...I do know that you are a wonderful compassionate leader and friend. How I wish that I could tell you some way to get that scale to move down farther...but I don't have any magic secrets...I just love you and want you to be happy.

I am sorry to hear yea feeling burned out. I can completely understand. I know how frustrating it can be to be stuck on the same few pounds cause I too have been doing that. I go up then down but basically stay the same...for a few months now. I hope both us find a way to get over our humps. Am happy though that yea have continued to push forward and not give up. Keep moving pushing!!

My dear Sharon! I can share your feelings and am sorry you are "stuck" too. I have been sitting within a pound or two for months and have just about quit posting too! I keep telling myself with cooler weather coming to Arizona, I will do better with exercise, so we shall see. I will keep you - all of us - in my prayers for better success on our weight loss journey!!

    Love, Carol
