The journey of a thousand miles...

Tuesday, November 11, 2008

Began with the first steps I took on May 6, 2008. At the rate I am going, I will reach 1,000 in less than 2 weeks. I have now traveled over 930 miles and have only 1900 left to go before I reach Washington D.C. on my virtual walk across America.

I meant to mark my 6-month anniversary on November 5 but I guess my thoughts were elsewhere that day. If I had thought about committing to 2830 miles back when I started, I'm not sure if I would have had the courage to try, but I was just taking it day by day, and so I still am. Big things can be accomplished with just small but consistent changes each day!

I have not lost as much weight as I had hoped for at this stage, but I am still happy because I know that everything is moving slowly but consistently in the right direction. I have walked at least 10,000 steps a day everyday, with very few exceptions, and most days, I have walked closer to 12,000 miles a day.

I feel a great sense of accomplishment, and a firm resolve to keep going!

emoticon I celebrate with you how far you have come - WOW 10,000 - 12,000 steps a day. That is awesome. Yes, sometimes it can be frustrating for things not to move along as fast as we might hope. But in the long run, the slowness is a better indicator of being able to keep it off. Keep up the great work!
