Get Back

Tuesday, November 11, 2008

Wow this last 2 weeks has been excruciating! health wise I have been fighting a severe head & chest cold. While trying to get better I found myself burning my physical and emotional candles at both ends. For the past five months I have been living in California and was enjoying the hot days of summer being able to get outside but on Nov 4th I was exuberant due to the overwhelming moment of seeing our nation elect the First African American president!! I thought finally our nation is ready to truly stand behind an often heard phrase " All are created equal and we all have equal rights" This so far is not true in California!

During my cold getting worse and worse I found myself on street corners holding signs and smiling while SOME who passed me by spouted hateful things & flipped the bird to me and those around me. I did manage to get all my steps in everyday I spent there so I figured it served 2 purposes 1. fighting for equality 2. getting my cardio in ha ha ha ha.

I was feeling so down on Sunday and just exhausted, I was running a low grade temperature had a slight cough and my head was completely congested! But ... I went with three of my friends to California's state capital in Sacramento and participated in a rally there. Let me tell you I definitely got exercise in Sunday! I walked over 8 miles in total over 17 thousand steps.

I thought to myself that night - feeling as bad as I did what in the world kept me moving? It was passion - passion for what I was doing. So although I may never LOVE working out I can be passionate about getting healthy and perhaps that will push me through those hard days!!

Sunday - renewed my energy to keep being passionate in ALL area's of my life! To all those who stood with me Sunday, The 5 Million Californians who believe in love & equality!! Thank You - Thank You - Thank You!!!!!!!
